Our Powerful Hardwood Floor Cleaning Extracts More Dirt
Our hardwood floor deep cleaning process uses a high-speed rotary brush and proprietary cleaning solution to reach tough dirt and contaminants. As our technicians clean your floor, squeegees trap the dirt, and a powerful vacuum extracts both the dirt and excess cleaning solution. When cleaning hardwood floors, our experts follow up with a detailed hand cleaning for those hard-to-reach areas. Then we restore the pH balance to your floor with a professional grade wood cleaner, which effectively captures any remaining dirt and residue. The entire process is low-odor, non-toxic and dust-free, leaving you with one hard act to follow.

Hardwood Cleaning Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How do you clean hardwood floors?
A. Regular mopping just doesn’t reach the stubborn dirt that lies deep in the pores of your hardwood, but our cleaning process does. This process includes an initial vacuuming of the areas to remove any loose dirt and debris, an auto scrubbing with an alkaline cleaner and then another auto scrubbing with a neutral cleaner to return the floor to its initial sheen. Edges are hand scrubbed, as are stairs.
Q. Do you offer any kind of sealant to protect the floor after cleaning?
A. Yes, we have an optional Maintenance Coating that may be applied!
Clean and Maintenance Coat your hardwood floors with a combination of our deep cleaning and an application of our hardwood floor refinisher. First, we remove dirt and debris with our cleaning process. Then we can coat your floors with our Maintenance Coat solution. Our fast drying Maintenance Coat will leave your floors with a uniform, overall sheen. If the maintenance coating has been applied a 2-4 hour drying time is required before walking on the surface. When cleaning just isn’t enough, refinish your floor with our Maintenance Coat process.
Q. What do you consider as an area?
A. Typically, an area is a room that is up to 300 square feet (that is 15 x 20 or approximately the size of a two-car garage). Living room/dining room combos are considered two areas. Any area over 300 square feet but less than 600 square feet is priced as two areas. Non-standard areas (baths, halls, entry’s, landings, walk-in-closets, etc.) are priced separately from the standard areas, usually at a lesser price and may be up to 50 sf to be counted as one area. Over 50 sf for non-standard areas would be considered two areas for pricing. Our crew will measure any areas they think may be oversized before charging it as two areas.
Q. Do you move furniture?
A. There is no charge to move furniture. Our crews are professionally trained to move, or as we say “shift” your furniture, and then return it to its rightful place when cleaning is completed. The exception would be if a maintenance coating has been applied to hardwood flooring. If yes, the furniture must remain off the wood flooring for 24 hours so we would not return it to its original location. You would do that after 24 hours. If it is cleaning only, of the hardwood floors, we will put the furniture back in place when the cleaning is completed.
There are several items we do not move for safety reasons such as: pianos, electronics, china cabinets full of china, waterbeds, some large beds, dressers with mirrors, etc. We do ask you to remove items off of your furniture like plants, lamps and knick knacks before we arrive. The care of your personal possessions is our main concern. We don’t want items to tip over or fall off the furniture we are moving. We know homes have many family heirlooms that need tender loving care and handling so we ask you to place them in a safe location during the cleaning process.
Q. Do you guarantee removal of all spots or stains in the hardwood?
A. We cannot guarantee that we will remove all spots or stains. There are substances that can permanently discolor hardwood. The age of the hardwood and the type of flooring also play a factor in this. The technician will do an analysis of the flooring prior to cleaning and will discuss any existing pre-conditions with you, prior to beginning the work.
Q. Why do your prices vary from other San Diego hardwood cleaners?
A. When comparing prices, make sure you ask a lot of questions and please keep a few things in mind. Our price includes pre-vacuuming, treating for spots, moving (shifting) furniture, and a 10-day satisfaction policy. There are no hidden fees or additional charges. Also, we never sub-contract, so our technicians are always background checked, drug tested and properly trained Stanley Steemer employees. Our technicians wear a red and white uniform, a name badge and drive a bright yellow Stanley Steemer van. We invest a lot into the training of our employees and the cleaning equipment they use to service your homes. This is what allows us to stand behind all of our work. During the past 30+ years we have earned the reputation of being the best carpet cleaning company in San Diego! The Stanley Steemer experience is one we promise you will enjoy!
Q. How do you guarantee customer satisfaction?
A. We are happy to work with you to correct any situation that may arise. In some cases this can mean spot cleaning specific areas of concern or even completely re-cleaning the area in question. In the end, we’re not satisfied until you are.
